OOTD – Velvetly Flarin’ Off Some Denim

My outfit of the day consisted on a very casual look, incorporating some of my all-time favorite trends, including a pair of black velvet pair of flowy pants – high-waisted, of course. I paired the high-waisted comfy-oriented cropped, flared, flowy pants, with a long sleeve crew-kneck crop top. Finally, to finalize the look I layered a cropped, light-wash distressed jacket over my crop top, to tie the look together and retain some heat. I sported one of my favorite pair of high-top, black platform sneakers, as we all know, platform shoes are some of my favorite trends forever. Platform shoes will forever hold a special place in my heart.

My is thrown into a pair of french braids, one of my favorite go-to hairstyles. It is simple and keeps your hair out of your face. Not to mention, it adds a little more spunk than a simple ponytail, or lazy day bun.

I was feeling a little lazy, however, so I accessorized my face with a pair of round glasses to maximize my vision.

Who needs handbags anymore? My mini black backpack was my choice of bag for the day, as I have become a big fan of the mini backpack look and trend. Plus, backpacks are much more pratical these days. Do not fret, you can still make mini backpacks look chic.

As we transition into Spring, we can begin breaking out some of our favorite Spring, or Summer, clothes into our outfits. Lately, I have been all about the 90s and love that it is currently reliving their fashion glory days. I can say with certainty that this outfit channeled multiple 90s trends that have made a comeback recently in streetwear.

This is a fairly casual, comfy outfit, and is nothing over the top. However, you can always spice up, or step up, your comfortable, lazy day outfit, with some statement pieces, such as a pair of platform shoes, a distressed denim jacket, or even with a pair of black velvet flared pants. While a denim jacket is super classic, it is a great statement piece to have in the back of your closet, as I would definitely consider it an essential for anyone’s wardrobe.

My outfit of the day velvetedly flared off some denim in a pair of platform sneakers, or in other words, blew off some denim [steam] with some velvet-y flare, all while wearing platform shoes.

OOTD – Overall The Snow

Sun-days are fun-days, pun-intended! Any days filled with sun, especially during the winter season, should be taken advantage of.

Instead of bundling up in my regular drabby winter clothes, the 68 degree weather allowed me to dip my feet into my summer and spring clothes, incorporating winter trends in order to make sure I was warm.

On this sunny day in February, I paired my favorite vintage distressed overalls, layering a velvet black crop underneath and a pair of black tights with bow detailing to keep my legs warm. Layering tights underneath your shorts is a great way to incorporate your shorts and skirts into your winter wardrobe. You can never go wrong with tights – they are a great staple to keep around your closet.

I did a little bit more layering by pairing the overalls with a fluffy white cardigan. To complete the look, I wore a pair of baby pink platform sneakers to add a little color and spunk into my outfit.

OOTD – Low-Key Cute But Psycho

What a beautiful February afternoon! The sun is shining and I am just enjoying all the Vitamin D that this winter has to offer. 13378dab-137f-43ce-b5e1-321786e6b638

Taking full advantage of this beautiful afternoon and a half-day at work meant embracing the act of relaxation by becoming the definition of comfort. I am basically “sweatpants on, chillin’ with no make-up on,” it is as if Drake rapping about me.

My top-knot bun was in full swing, so I even let my hair be comfortable.

“Cute But Psycho,” my graphic crop top states, whether or not this is true, is up to you. Graphic tees are making a huge comeback in the fashion-industry, as they can be a fun way to spruce up and add another element to your otherwise top.

I paired my controversial graphic crop top, with a fluffy/fuzzy cardigan and a pair of black velvet leggings.

The best part of this outfit is that the fabrics of all the garments I am wearing are cozy and comfortable. Velvet, fuzzy cardigans, and comfy t-shirts all involve textures that enforce a sense of warmth, as well as reinforcing the importance of the textures of the garments to ensure ultimate comfortability.
The fuzzy cardigan truly hits the spot, almost acting as a cloud of comfort to wrap my entire body around. Not to mention, this furry goodness has pockets. I cannot ask for anything else.

I casually hung out among the dead grass and dead leaves.

No shoes were involved in the creation of this outfit.
Not every outfit I wear every day is fashion-forward, or by any means cute. But, as long as I feel comfortable and cozy in what I am wearing, you can ensure that I will be happy and pleasant.

While most OOTD’s consist of brilliantly put together ensembles, I kept it casual and comfortable today with my look. It is what I would refer to as a “keepin’ it simple.”

This is somewhat a replica of my usual lounging, day-to-day look that you can find me rockin’ all year long, especially on those days that you become apart of your bed or couch.

Fall is coming in HOT, and in order to stay hot and/or warm, incorporating some fur and fall-like trends are very important this season. With this outfit, I incorporated some of my favorite fall/winter trends, all while trying to stay warm, during this transition of seasons. I utilized one statement jacket and balanced the rest of the outfit out with neutral colored pieces that I enjoyed. Fur, or faux fur, fuzzy jackets are not only a way to make a statement this season, but stay especially warm. I kept the jacket a semi-neutral color, in order not to overwhelm my entire outfit. I paired this furry jacket with a pair of black high-waisted jeans, a cream, cable knit sweater, a Brixton Fiddler Fisherman hat, and a black scarf.

OOTD – Black As Day

You can never wear too much black – it’s an ultimate staple of my wardrobe. My outfit can be considered a “blackout,” though no consumption of alcohol was partook in during the creation of this outfit. I wanted to keep the outfit neutral and comfortable, incorporating some of my favorite trends of the season. The black striped slip dress was the starting point from my outfit, and helped keep the look very casual. I paired the slip dress with a pair of high-top slip-on shoes. To top off the look, I chose a black fisherman style hat and the black circular sunglasses to protect me from the intense UV rays.

RECAP: New York Fashion Week

Though I did not attend the actual event, my attendance did not interfere with my love for the event. As New York Fashion Week and London Fashion Week have already came and went, and now Milan Fashion Week is in full-swing, I figured I would recap some of New York’s most memorable runway collections this season. Here’s a recap of some of my favorite trends, runway shows, and collections from this year’s New York Fashion Week.

  1. Marc Jacobs Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018 – According to Vogue, The Marc Jacobs’ show was completely silent. But, the collection spoke volumes to compensate for the silence, letting the audience enjoy the collection for its’ true nature. The collection was bold, incorporating a wide range of bold patterns, full of texture, as he experimented with a multitude of different materials, and incorporated retro trends and patterns. The make-up and accessories were far from unnoticeable, as he incorporated dramatic cat eye make-up, turbans, and fanny packs. The collection featured many pieces inspired by menswear, featuring many looks incorporating suits. The retro patterns and wild floral print looks were very memorable, as much of his collection utilized these trends.

  2. Fenty x Puma Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018 – The Fenty x Puma show was a show within itself. Motorcrossers performed tricks in the backdrop of pink mountains, as the models walked down the runway. According to Vogue, the runway show was X Games inspired. The collection overall had a good flow to it from piece to piece, and the color scheme had a good cohesion. While most of the looks were sporty, the collection also included a very chic dress, which was one of my favorite looks of the collection. While this runway show was one of the most talked about and anticipated shows of the week, the collection did not suit my practical needs, as many of the pieces were a little over-the-top for me. I truly enjoyed the color scheme, as the colors were all truly visually stimulating. The collection was definitely eccentric.

  3. Michael Khors Collection Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018– The Michael Kors Collection was similarly one of my favorites, featuring models Kendall Jenner and Bella Hadid. The collection incorporated tons of pastels and beachy pieces, which honestly came as a surprise to me. I am a big fan of this collection, as it contains many looks that I would wear daily. The two-piece ensemble looks that were featured within the collection are some of my favorites, and I would not mind having one of them in my closet. The collection contained many bohemian pieces, as well. I loved how he also incorporated palm tree leaf prints and tie-dye into some of his looks. Kendall Jenner’s look was very simplistic, and also one of my favorites of the collection. The more I rant about it, the more I realize how obsessed I am with this tropical spring collection. The collection makes me immediately want to take a trip to Hawaii. Khors unexpectedly swooned the bohemian side of my style.

  4. Oscar de la Renta Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018 – The Oscar de la Renta’s collection was one of the most visually stimulating and playful. While I was not a big fan of the looks at the very end, which included gowns that I did not enjoy, I truly enjoyed the collections play on patterns. The beginning looks of the collection were definitely what I believe were the strongest of the bunch. The show also included Bella Hadid, whose outfit was one of my favorite ensembles of the bunch. The collection used a wide array of colors and could be seen as a little bit everywhere, as it lacked the cohesiveness that other collections had. Some of my favorite pieces and looks from the collection were the sequin pieces, specifically this red and silver sequin dress. Overall, the collection was playful and colorful.

  5. Tom Ford Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018 – Tom Ford is always been a frontrunner during Fashion week. The show this year featured both Kendall Jenner and Gigi Hadid, who are not only some of my favorites, but a handful of other individuals. The collection was sleek, as usual, channeling a very “cool” vibe. The collection branched out experimenting with neon pink, incorporating the vibrant color into pant suits and suit jackets. He still manages to pull off the almost highlighter color, and successfully achieves the sleek, fashion-forward vibe that he always channels. My favorite part of the collection was his jackets, more of his relaxed looks, and most of his all white ensembles. I was not the biggest fan of the way he styled his model’s hair, but I did enjoy the makeup.

  6. Coach 1941 Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018– The atmosphere and environment of the Coach 1941 runway show was one of my favorites. The glittered runway stole my soul, as it perfectly complimented each and every piece of the collection. The collection itself featured many pieces within each look that I, myself, would enjoy wearing. Though I may not have paired some of the pieces the way that they were presented, I enjoyed the collection thoroughly. The collection was sophisticated, girly, featuring lace, beautiful slip dresses, and lots of glitter, and most importantly, “cool.” The collection experimented with a specific print that was translated into different pieces. I found that this collection appealed to my own personal style and aethestic.

  7. Victoria Beckham Ready-To-Wear Spring 2018 – Simplistic, yet beautiful is how I would describe Beckham’s Spring 2018 collection. The color scheme of the entire collection consisted of simplistic black and white, nude tones, and pastels, which made the collection a dream to watch. The collection had plenty of pieces inspired by menswear, full of many suits, as that was a prominent theme throughout the fashion week. Though menswear-inspired-attire were present throughout her entire collection, she still managed to make the business casual attire look chic, elegant, simplistic, and feminine. Each piece was beautifully constructed, and I enjoyed many of the “flowy” looks she had in her collection this season.

Beyond some of my favorites, there were handfuls of exiquiste collections that were featured at this year’s Fashion Week that are readily available for your viewing pleasure.xo,

OOTN – Denimly Not Over Florals For Sheer

On a casual night out to the city, I created an ensemble that incorporated a sheer floral long sleeve top and a denim skirt. I wanted to keep the look grungey and girly, yet not over-the-top. The button-down denim skirt in a sense contrasts, and compliments the grungier dark floral printed top. The platform high-top sneakers, which go with just about everything, added a more casual and grungey look to my outfit. The shoes I kept a neutral color, not to overwhelm the outfit.
